Collaborative Grammar
Karen's workshop was brilliant. She showed us how interesting is to teach grammar through a more appealing approach. She also showed us how grammmar dictation works ant what is more, she gave us an exercise to put all the theory into practise and I consider this point really important because you need to see if the activity works before applying it to you students in the classroom. Once again I saw the use of different activities taking into account the different intelligences that stuents have developed. It is really important to include in our teaching different kind of activities because all the students are gifted they just open their packages at different times. We have to make the process complete. THe role of the teacher was also important in this activity becuase the teacher was always supporting the students and what is alse relevant is taht with this method we make checking test easier. Iam sure Iam going to use this technique with my students to revise contextualized grammar. Thank you Karen for your workshop it was great and useful
Kevin the sociologist
Yesterday morning we had an exciting workshop about the difference of cognitivist and sociocultural ways of learnig. At the beginnig there was a lot of theory that was a little bit complicated for me to unerstand its meaning in the classroom but as time went passing by I found that what he was saying had a significant meaning for me. I am not in favor of any of the two approches because I think that extremes are not good. We have to reach to a balance between the two streams. I consider contextualized grammar very important because students can understand how to use the language in the right place. Apart from that if we catch the studentds' atenttion then everything will be achieved. one way of doing this is introducing grammar points through text that students are willing to learn and talk about. Students need to be able to participate in the community and language gives them the power . If they don't get the language they will fall apart. we have to bare in mind that language is organic it goes growing and changing all the time and remember that Linguistics is a human science
Shirley's workshop
Yesterday morning we had a very interesting workshop about american pronunciation. I think it was one of the best workshops we have had because it was very practical, useful and funny. I enjoyed a lot. Now I will try to put into practise all the things I have learnt with my students. I pay attention to all the things Shirley did such as using different activities to awake all the intelligences we have some of them more developed than others. The games were also very interesting and the jigsaw was important too. I also discover how important the stress can be mainly the american stress which is in some ways different from the british one we learnt. The pitch changes are also important because the English melody comes from them. I aslo learnt amazing things such as not stressing all the words not to sound angry. Thanks Shirley for the workshop it was fantastic

We have to bare in mind the different skills students have to learn English( verbal, logical, visual, spation, music, naturalist, intrapersonal and interpersonal) and give them the opportunities of showing their talents. We have to catch students' attention making our classes funnier and more useful. The workshop was really interesting I like it a lot and i can appl to my primary and secondary students in many ways always taking into account their different ways of learnig and trying to awaken the students' hidden gifts.
